ISLAMABAD: The social media sites in Pakistan have been restored, which had previously been closed for four hours by order of the Interior Ministry.

The federal government ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Friday to suspend social media platforms in the country from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A ministry statement said the PTA has been ordered to block Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and Telegram and Twitter services in the country.

“… full access to social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Telegram) can be blocked nationwide from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 16, 2021,” said the ministry’s message to the chairman the PTA.
