The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has taken the lead of other federal entities in modernizing mass public transport and has announced plans to launch a high-speed rail system. Prime Minister (PM) AJK Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan made the announcement while addressing the AJK Legislative Assembly on Thursday. He also announced several other development projects.

According to the information, the high-speed train will run between Muzaffarabad and Islamabad. The prime minister of AJK did not provide any additional details such as the cost of the project during his speech.

Also, AJK PM has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art international airport in AJK. He also revealed plans to set up a private airline in AJK.

He also announced that a special economic zone (SEZ) for women would be established in AJK. The Premier allotted Rs. 340 crore for media industry and Rs. 500 crore for building cottage industry in AJK.

AJK PM also announced that it will build a 500-bed hospital in Mirpur, which will be equipped with modern healthcare equipment. He also announced the establishment of three IT training centers in different cities in AJK.

Finally, AJK PM reassured citizens that they would not incur any additional burden in the form of an electricity price hike and said this would not change for the next year or so.
