Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said Friday that schools across the province would remain closed for another week. Rasheed Channa, spokesman for the provincial chief, told Dawn.com that schools would be closed from August 23rd (Monday) to August 30th. Sindh Government Schools Remain Close Till 31st August The Prime Minister’s announcement came after Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah announced Tuesday that schools across the province would open from August 23 (Monday). At a press conference in Karachi, CM Shah said: “At this point we will not open schools for another week. We want the teachers and parents of the students to be vaccinated this week.”

He said school staff must be 100 percent vaccinated and parents must also provide their vaccination certificates. “Under this regime we will open schools next week,” he said.

CM Shah declined to provide further details, saying the education minister would better brief the matter.

The Sindh government closed schools across the province on July 24 due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases, despite announcing that the exams would take place on schedule.
