Lahore Police on Tuesday recorded a case against hundreds of unidentified people for assault and theft of a TikToker woman Ayesha Ikram as per Geo News and her companion in the city’s Greater Iqbal Park on Independence Day. Meanwhile, Sajid Kiyani, DIG Operations Lahore, ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) to take “immediate legal action” against the suspects involved in the incident.
“The suspects should be found with the help of the footage,” the police officer was quoted as saying in a statement.
Those who “have violated the honor of women and molested them are brought within the purview of the law,” added Kiyani.
A video of the incident began circulating on social media today, with citizens expressing their anger at the actions of the men in the video.
The most recent incident comes amid renewed focus on violence against women in Pakistan following the murders of Noor Mukadam and Quratul Ain in July.
That same month, a video went viral on social media of six men molesting a couple in Islamabad. The men held the couple at gunpoint, forced them to undress, and then beat them up. In addition, they also verbally and physically abused the couple through vulgar acts.
