“By denying the possibility of upward social mobility, you are doing this segment a great injustice,” he said.

The scholarship initiative, said the prime minister, would serve to “stimulate and encourage” children to attend schools.

The Prime Minister highlighted the fact that more girls are out of school than boys. “We did not attach importance to education, but unfortunately we did not attach importance to the education of girls,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that a well-educated woman is of greater benefit to society than a well-educated man because she “educates her children and changes the whole system of her household [such as] the health and well-being of children, which is a much more societal one.” Effect”.

Stipend kept higher for girls: PMO

According to a message from the Prime Minister’s Office, the scholarship will be awarded to “deserving parents” who can provide for 70 percent of their children’s school attendance.

“In this program, the level of scholarships for girls has been kept particularly high. The school scholarships cover primary, secondary and higher education,” she added.

A press release said the program would be rolled out nationwide in all counties.
In elementary school, boys were said to receive quarterly scholarships of Rs 1,500 and girls of Rs 2,000; in secondary education, boys receive 2,500 rupees and girls 3,000 rupees; and in upper secondary school boys receive 3,500 rupees and girls 4,000 rupees. The scholarships are awarded quarterly.
