The federal government (NCOC) has decided to extend the school closure in COVID risk areas until April 28, 2021.

The decision was made on Tuesday at a high-level NCOC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umar. All education and health ministers of the province attended the meeting. The Federal Minister for Education and Training, Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interreligious Harmony, Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, and other relevant authorities were also present.

Mahmood noted that the A and O level checks will also be conducted under strict COVID-19 SOPs as planned. He asked students to continue exam preparation and not be distracted by cancellation rumors.

On the other hand, Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has announced that all public and private schools will be closed for grades one through eight through Eid in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Multan, Bhawalpur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Toba Tek Singh, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sheikhupura.
